We were driving straight through Las Vegas, so obviously we had to stop for a quick pic with the welcome sign on Las Vegas Boulevard!
I didn't realize how desolate the drive would be today. 9+ hours of driving mostly in the desert. We finally found a Denny's breakfast diner located inside a casino.
The casino was showcasing cars that had been in movies, so I guess that was pretty neat. (Pictured: The DeLorean from Back to the Future.)
We thought we'd play a little bit before we got back on the road.
As we were getting up to leave, Bry spotted a used cigarette which inspired him to pose for this photo. I think he felt like a real life gambler for a second.
After breakfast, we had to return to the desert.
We came across this creepily awesome shop in Baker, Caifornia called "Alien Fresh Jerky." Brian ran out of the car and made a tin foil helmet before posing with his new friends!
And...back to the desert...
We weren't impressed by what we'd seen in California during the first few hours, but the landscape changed pretty dramatically after we came upon the windward side of the mountains.
We're actually about 23 miles from the park. In the morning, we'll drive to the visitor center and take a shuttle to Glacier Point, and then hike down a few miles. The views are supposed to be magical!
